Operation “Save Elliott From Drowning in His Sleep” seems to have been successful. After a good hour of back-breaking duct tape work, the floodgates unleashing liquid hell upon my bedroom seem to have closed. This photo demonstrates the aftermath. I’ve got the threats down to a soggy carpet and some bad-smelling towels by now.
I was having a hard time writing a headline for this one. I wanted to do something like, “Little Dutch Boy Plugs Up Dyke in Room; Elliott’s Life Spared,” but I figured that probably just didn’t sound quite right.

I have to say that on the ecosystem/geology front, it’s been one helluva ride these past couple days. My neighbor came out in the hall screaming about an earthquake just as I was stomping around in galoshes with a pot full or rainwater. It felt like Moby Dick and Armageddon all wrapped into one.

So, the exterior of my building looks a bit like a favela, but there is a noticeable lack of torrential downpour in my room. I’d say it’s worth it. Oh, and if you’re wondering what it looked like in here before the leakage was stopped, follow the jump…
