To Puppy or Not to Puppy

Argh, a tough decision confronts me. A coworker today brought in the most adorable stray puppy that she found wandering in the middle of a busy street in downtown Miami. From what we can tell, he’s about 8-10 weeks old, and is some sort of hound/shepherd mix. I’m guessing he’s Beagle/German Shepherd, though it’s hard to say for sure. I can tell you, though, that he is a dream puppy. I had a chance to play with him some this morning that I can tell you that he’s curious but very well behaved and quiet. I’m sure some of that has to do with him being in unfamiliar surroundings, but it gave me a good gut feeling. He needs a trip to the vet (partly for the snip-snip) and also just to get checked out. A bath probably wouldn’t hurt. But all in all, there’s something about this feller that is particularly appealing to me. Of course, I need to check with my landlord (who’s previously stated “no pets”), so that could be a bit tricky.

I don’t know. What do you think? Should I adopt? I’m moving to Boulder here shortly (oh yeah, more about that some other time), so I could find a good place that would suit him too. And Boulder is the primo dog-friendly capital of the world. I’m awfully tempted.

Tough tough choices.
