Why I Loathe Comcast

I’ve been a Comcast customer (reluctantly) for over 5 years straight. Each of those years had its own unique  set of pains – outages, missed appointments, the usual horrors. Well, I’ve currently been paying about $75, tax included, for Internet and TV with a smattering of HD channels. Nothing too whoopty do, but enough channels and at a manageable price. Well, this afternoon I called Comcast to try and set up service in Colorado. The best price they were willing to give me for the same sort of thing (after I spent 5 minutes trying to convince the rep that I absolutely don’t need and won’t pay for phone service) was about $110, without all that tax and miscellaneous bull excreta they lovingly attach to to your statement every month. I would estimate the total would be about $120/mo. That’s a 60% increase over last year. I could understand a 3%, even a 10% increase. Alas, they have no concept of value because they have practically zero competition within their markets (and this goes for all cable providers, not just Comcast). So, a five-year begrudgingly loyal customer now has to give them what they ask for, or find something else from a list of meagre choices. And that is why I loathe Comcast. If anything, perhaps they can use all the money I’ve dumped on them to buy a more comfortable seat in hell.
